Surviving Google Penguin!

In case you haven't heard already, Google has once again introduced an animal you must become familiar with-- penguins. In April, Google introduced their new penguin algorithm. As with Google Panda, Google Penguin is designed to reduce the use of black hat SEO tactics, including low quality content. Although Google has good intentions behind the release of the penguins, many websites are beginning to feel the sting from the new changes. So far, Google Penguin is really harming small business owners over others, but no one is safe.

Google's Penguin: It's turning into a zoo!

by Alyssa Ast

Google has gone and done it again. They've throw a new creature into the mix-- penguins! Google Penguin supports the changes made by Google's Panda. It increases the requirements for quality content, but involves more changes to the way you utilize links. The goal is to reduce link spamming, so if you pay for clicks, you better be ready to feel the peck of the penguins.

The March of the Penguins

Not only does Google's new Penguin requirements cut back on keyword stuffing, but it also enforces the need to only link to quality content that's relevant to one another. You can't over link anymore either or your site will be penalized. You also have to be careful your anchor texts aren't linking to the same words and phrases over and over again. If you practice black hat SEO, you'd better get ready to be knocked off a SERP.

Right now, small businesses appear to be hit the hardest by Google's Penguin, but no one is really safe. If you aren't up to date with the latest requirements, you better get up to speed now before you plummet from SERP ranking.

Have you noticed the new changes? What are your thoughts on the new requirements? Can we expect another animal to be thrown into the mix soon?
